Roche Empowering Volunteers (REV)

What is REV?

REV (Roche Empowering Volunteers) is an employee initiative designed to encourage involvement in our local community.  In line with Roche’s Corporate Sustainability Values we are assisting employees to “give back”, by providing paid leave for volunteer activity during business hours.

How does it work?

Roche partners with a number of local organisations, including (among others) Camp Quality which is a non-profit organisation that is committed to bringing hope and happiness to every child living with cancer, their families and communities through ongoing quality recreational and educational programs.

Six to ten volunteers each month assist our partner organisations with their task of choice.  Examples of what employees might expect on a volunteer day include:

We encourage employees to volunteer to work with our community partners, and all full-time employees are eligible for 2 paid “volunteer days” per annum.  Part-time employees are eligible for 1 paid “volunteer day” per annum.

– Roche, “encouraging a personal commitment to the society in which we operate”.

SOME FEEDBACK FROM THE ORGANISATIONS:

Malcolm Fisher, Manly Dam Restoration Project,

"Please also thank all your great employees who really put in a fantastic effort and assisted greatly in helping to restore the Mermaid Pool environs."

Maryann Dalton, CEO, Animal Welfare League

"The assistance you gave us in September was fantastic and we thank each and everyone of the team for their help. I am pleased that they all enjoyed the experience as I know the dogs who shared their day had a fantastic time too!"

Lisa Humphries, Marketing Manager, Stewart House

"I just wanted to thank the volunteers again for their effort last week."

"The Christmas Card packing is such a huge job and it would have been a lot bigger without your help."

Angela Dives, Volunteer coordinator, The Spastic Centre

"I just want to say a huge thank you to all the hard working staff from Roche - they worked wonders, even the wet weather didn't dampen their enthusiasm. The House Manger said they were amazing."

Some  feedback from Roche employees:
